Metadata Matters: Philadelphia
The inaugural event of a new seminar series, Metadata Matters premiered in Philadelphia on March 16, 2016. The one-day seminar included metadata innovators from the libraries of Stanford, Cornell, and Drexel Universities, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Fresh Air Archive at WHYY.
Richard was tasked with promoting the event, managing lists, sending email invitations, creating web pages, integrating registration forms, designing printed programs and name badges, preparing digital and physical signage, and conducting exit surveys.
The event was held at a business center connected to the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. One staffer, holding a sign aloft in the depot to point attendees arriving by train in the right direction, was asked by security guards whether he had a permit to be protesting here. No one was arrested. Metadata matters.
The event reached capacity, attracted attendees from target-market academic and public libraries, received positive feedback, and was declared a great success by sales management and company leaders.
